"Sani been twirlin' long as I known her."

~Sani's Mother

Dancing is my first love.  I might not talk about it much or be the first one on the dance floor at every event, but dancing is literally my first love. Before kids. Before Barbering. Before Radio. Before everything you see me do... I LOVED dancing first.

Me and my cousins used to have dance battles at all our family get-togethers.  I'm Nigerian and have Nigerian family members so our parties included HEAVY dancing and the adults would put money on the foreheads of the kids that were dancing the best.  This WAS my childhood. Dancing and learning new dances.  I danced in talent shows in summer camp and school. I took drama classes outside of school and camp. I took ballet, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Ballroom...I've been dancing my whole life in one way or another.

I stopped dancing in High School but started up again in college. I stopped again and then started up about 2 years ago.

I don't plan on stopping this time, though. Why?

Cause It's a helluva confidence booster AND teacher. Have you seen the way Women are dancing today? BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH?!?!??!?!??!?!?!? Just WATCHING dance videos gets me hyped! Confident Women expressing themselves through movement? She ain't worried about her belly fat? She ain't worried about her stretch marks? She ain't worried about who's judging her? She's ONLY concerned with expressing herself in THAT moment. That's a place I want to visit often...and that's one of the reasons I STILL dance to this day.

Stay tuned...
