JANUARY 2021

Our theme this month will be "Emotional Intelligence (EQ)."

According to Psychology Today, EQ refers to the ability to identify & manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It involves 3 skills:

  1. Awareness - The ability to identify & name one’s own emotions

  2. Application - The ability to harness those emotions & apply them to tasks like thinking & problem solving

  3. Management - The ability to both regulating one’s own emotions when necessary as well as helping others to do the same.

Let's learn how to use EQ as a means of managing the emotions when we "catch" em, Cutie.

*Our four areas of focus this month will be in these areas of development:

  • Week 1 - Self-Awareness

  • Week 2 - Accountability

  • Week 3 - Social IQ

  • Week 4 - Love Lessons

There are four full weeks in January. We suggest familiarizing yourself with the following pages to further support your personal development goals:

  • Week 1 - The Bag

  • Week 2 - Self-Care 101

  • Week 3 - Soul

  • Week 4 - Mindset

This practical content will serve you during the weeks where you may be struggling to use your new behaviors.  These tips will support you so that you can continue to build your ideal vision for yourself.

Self-Awareness

Can you identify your emotions when you feel them? Have you ever started out your day in a good mood and then somehow ended up in a bad mood but couldn't figure out why? Have you ever been accused of being insensitive to other people's feelings? Then you may need to improve your emotional intelligence.

Accountability

Nobody is responsibly for how you feel. Nobody is responsibly for figuring out how you feel either.  Your emotions are your business.  If you don't take care of your business (i.e. how you're feeling and why you're feeling that way) then please understand that it is still nobody's responsibility to carry the burden of how you feel about your unwillingness to take care of your emotional business.

Social IQ

Learn to read the room.  If you notice that your significant other is in a bad mood, acknowledge what you see.  Offer a back rub or just ask if there is anything you can do to brighten their mood. If your Boss appears to be stressed out about a project deadline that's coming up, acknowledge that and offer some assistance.  Showing empathy for other people's moods isn't necessarily your responsibility, but it may help you provide emotional support in a way that may increase the strength, health, & well-being of your relationships.

Love Lessons

Emotional support in tough times is extremely important. Have you ever been going through a trial and the people you expected to support your emotionally fell short by focusing only on themselves instead of supporting you?  How did that make you feel?  Did it make you want to share your emotions with them or hide it? Think about this the next time you're in a position to provide emotional support for your friends and loved ones.

Mindset

How easy is it for your to consider new ideas & information? Do you get upset when you learn something that challenges a past belief? When learning anything new, frustration is to be expected but it should NEVER stop you from learning new information that could help enhance your quality of life. Be open to learning new things this week ESPECIALLY the kind that makes you feel cute!

Accountability

Practicing accountability SUCKS! But the one thing it can do for you is ensure that you don't play yourself!  When you own up to your bullshit, you own the responsibility of cleaning up said bullshit, too.  It's a Boss move no doubt, but there are an INFINITE number of alternative "Boss Moves" that don't involved you having to play yourself first.  Once you start making the connection between your bad choices and the equally bad results that follow, you'll also start to notice an increase in the desire to make choices that won't have you playing the clean-up Woman to your own mess!

The Clique

Birds of a feather flock together.  Your network is net worth.

You can't keep a clean reputation hangin' out with messy people. You become the 5 people you hang out with.

In case you didn't catch the part that you really need to be choosy about who you allow in your world. Here you are doing ALL this work to develop yourself, your reputation, and your business, right? Why would you let just anybody come along and throw you off your path? Be selective AF about who you hold close to you.

Self-Image

noun

the idea one has of one's abilities, appearance, and personality.

How you feel about your appearance? Be honest. You don't have to tell anyone but yourself since YOU are the one who has to walk around with these ideas in your head & heart.  Think back to moments where you felt capable, looked beautiful, and a vibe to experience. Think about all the things you did to accomplish that feeling & then start applying those acts in your current situation. Wash. Rinse. Repeat

AUGUST 2020

When you are accountable, you understand and accept the consequences of your actions for the areas in which you assume responsibility.

Our 4 areas of focus this month will be in these areas of development:

  • Week 1 - Accountability

  • Week 2 - Mindset

SEPTEMBER 2020

Our theme this month will be "The Bag."

You may have heard the AAVE saying: "Secure the Bag, Sis!"  This statement means that one should move in a way that ensures that her "bag" is SAFE and SECURE as possible.  Got a slick mouth?  Can't let little stuff go? Always gotta have the last word? Cause ALL of these "behaviors" have the potentially to jeopardize the security of your "bag." Let's learn how to NOT let that happen!

Our 4 areas of focus this month will be in these areas of development:

  • Week 1 - Emotional Intelligence

  • Week 2 - Nutrition

  • Week 3 - Accountability

  • Week 4 - Self-Awareness

Write these focuses down somewhere that you can CLEARLY see them.  Every morning, read the focus for that week and (try to) connect it to a personal goal that YOU have that might be related to that focus.

Emotional Intelligence

There are 5 characteristics associated with Emotional Intelligence (EI) including:

  • Self-Awareness

  • Self-Regulation

  • Motivation

  • Empathy

  • Social Skills

All of these characteristics effect how you spend your money.  This week let's pay attention to these characteristics in our own lives to see if we're doing everything we can be doing to 'Secure The Bag.'

Nutrition

Wanna know a quick way to deplete your bag? Eating out.  Seriously.  If you're not on a budget and you eat out daily, you are poking HUGE holes in your bag. Again, if you haven't sat down and drawn up a budget that allows for takeout purchases you may be doing more harm to your bag than you think. All those food purchases really add up so let's sit down this week and take note of how much we're spending on takeout and start to research how much more affordable (and healthier) it is to buy fresh foods from your local grocery store or co-op.

Accountability

The first step in 'securing your bag' is coming to terms with how you handle the bag. If you aren't willing to hold yourself accountable for bad spending habits then you'll be doomed to practice bad spending habits. Be honest with yourself about how you spend your money. Let's just start there.

Self-Awareness

When was the last time you looked at your bank statement? When was the last time you truly paid attention to your spending habits? In fact, where did you learn your spending habits? Are they helping or hurting you? What did you learn/hear/understand about money when you were growing up? All these questions about your relationship to your money will reveal some strengths and weakness that you might need to address so that you can truly be in a position to 'secure your bag.'

Soul

What's eating you?  Because it might be effecting how you decide to spend your money.  Your spirit is the very essence of who you are. It is to your benefit to check in with yourself (and your spirit) on a regular basis to make sure unresolved trauma's, insecurities, and fears aren't influencing your decisions about how you spend your money.

Self-Awareness

How often do you pay attention to what you're eating? Being fully aware of what you eat as well as how much you eat will have positive effects on your diet & nutrition. We're not saying become obsessed with counting calories or grams of fat, but we are saying that paying attention to your eating habits will definitely pay off in the long run.

Accountability

Do you understand the relationship between what you put in your mouth and how you feel?  If you eat 5 bags of Hot Cheetos and get a debilitating headache as a result, will you hold yourself accountable for the headache you just caused by your food choice? Or are you going to ignore how your food choices are negatively effecting your health & well-being?

Fitness

Diet & Fitness are the keys to Feeling AND Looking cute! Find an exercise (this could take YEARS so don't get discouraged) that you can get excited about! Skating, Dancing, Yoga...it really doesn't matter as long as it's building strength in your body (so that you can use your body whenever you need it) and nutrition in your cells! REMEMBER: Find something you like so on days you're not as motivated, your love for the exercise will keep you consistent so that you can achieve your fitness goals sooner rather than later.

OCTOBER 2020

Our theme this month will be "Nutrition."

Humans don't have a lot of control, but the one thing we can control is what we put into our bodies. Take a Bugatti for instance. Do you think Bugatti owners are just puttin' any old oil into their engine? Do you think they're just puttin' any old coolant in their engine? Hell! Do you think they just put any ole body in their cars?!? Hell naw! So if you truly value yourself, your goals, and your life, you'll do well to pick quality foods for yourself.

NOVEMBER 2020

Our theme this month will be "Soul."

How you feel inside effects EVERY corner of your environment. The statement "Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe" implies that what's going on inside of you is connected to the things going on around you. You are the nucleus of your environment. If you want your environment to feel safe, peaceful, and nourishing then guess what you gotta cultivate on the inside? Let's work!

*Our four areas of focus this month will be in these areas of development:

  • Week 1 - Self-Awareness

  • Week 2 - Self-Image

  • Week 3 - Mindset

  • Week 4 - Emotional IQ

There are four full weeks in November. We suggest focusing on the following pages to further support your personal development goals:

  • Week 1 - Healing 101

  • Week 2 - Self-Care 101

  • Week 3 - Courage 101

  • Week 4 - Self-Esteem 101

Self-Awareness

Do you listen to yourself?  Do you honor your "gut feelings" or do you just ignore them? When you're tired do you honor your body by giving it rest or do you ignore it? When you're hungry do you honor your body by feeding it nutritious food or do you ignore it? Your Self-Awareness can literally make or break your self-image. Ignoring your sleep, nutritional, and psychological needs isn't healthy. It ravages your body leaving you feeling bad and looking worse. And you feel bad all the time how could you POSSIBLY look good all the time?

Self-Image

Whatever you believe about yourself on the inside will manifest itself on the outside. What you think about yourself in secret usually shows up in public. What you eat in private shows up in public. What you think about yourself will always show up in the choices you make, the clothes you wear, and the company you keep and ALL OF THESE THINGS effect your self-image.

Mindset

We become what we think about. What you think about all the time is what you will become. If you think about becoming a successful Woman with a healthy work/life balance then that's what you'll eventually become.  If you see yourself as someone undeserving of any of that; or even worse, deserving of LESS THAN that, then you will become someone who deserves less than that. Consider the quality of your thoughts this month and make the necessary adjustments to put yourself on the right track.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Your emotions are the message centers of your mind, body, and soul. Pay attention to how you feel before linking up with friends as well as how you feel after you leave them.  If you feel exhausted, drained, or filled with anxiety after leaving your group, there's a good chance your body is trying to tell you something about that group. Who you hang out with and where you go can effect your soul. So make sure you're paying extremely close attention to what your emotions are telling you.
